Dr. Laurie is a true Ann Arborite. She was born across the street from our practice in the “old” St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, and has lived in Ann Arbor almost her entire life.

Like many of our patients, she attended King and Angell Elementary School, Tappan Middle School, and is a graduate of Huron High School. Dr. Laurie left Ann Arbor for four years to attend Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, before returning to The University of Michigan for dental school and her Graduate Orthodontic training.

Dr. Laurie is a member of:

American Association of Orthodontists,
American Dental Association,
Michigan Dental Association,
Great Lakes Association of Orthodontics,
Michigan Association of Orthodontists
Washtenaw District Dental Society.
In addition she is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. Nationally, less than half of the orthodontists in the United States are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Dr. Laurie is a part-time faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Her research on smile esthetics has been published in multiple scientific journals and she co-authored a book chapter.

Dr. Laurie is married to a fellow River Rat (Huron High School) Stephen McClatchey and they have a daughter, Sophia, born January 2008 and a son Alexander, born January 2010. They are excited about raising their family in Ann Arbor.
